This is a hodgepodge of illustrations and fine art paintings I have created over the course of 50 years, in no particular order.

The 2026 Catalog is Now Available

Richly dreamlike imagery

with the painful backstory of

family estrangement.

My name is Barbara Bose. I am a 71 year old artist. In October of 2025, my husband Jamie and our cat Sammy fled South Florida for Northern California and we are very glad about it.

I had a nice career as an art director, graphic artist and illustrator, mostly for magazines and newspapers on the East Coast. Here’s some info about me.

During my working years, I designed thousands of websites, logos, ads, photos, displays, print pieces, posters, videos, animations, catalogues, etc. I art-directed and creatively directed, booked, edited, scouted, and managed scores of shoots for fashion, food, architecture, locations, products and people. I have created literally millions of digital files now languishing in my closet on CDs, backup drives, in clouds, usb drives and elsewhere. My work has ranged from a few pixels in size to more than a city block long. Work was always interesting and fun, but what I like doing most was paint – like I meant to in the first place. I have been happily doing just that for the past several years.

So this website concentrates on things I have created for me… instead of things I created for other people.

I think something special happens when feelings are crystalized onto a canvas – or a piece of paper or a keyboard: a little spark is born when something is created. Like a song, art is a relatable piece of ourselves that can resonate to and through others, on and on into the future. I hope my images and words point things out which a viewer may not have noticed or thought about before, particularly our relationship with the world, and maybe even with ourselves.
